A big thanks to John Calhoun and Madelyn Zalon for hosting one of our
largest attended rides, with over 20 teams and numerous singles (since we were the only CIBA rides on the Friday holiday). A lot of HOOTS regulars were in attendance, (Richard & Shirley, Don & Chris, Jerry & Donna, George & Teresa, Doug & Denise, Sheldon & Martha, Pat & Margaret, Paul & son Mark, and many more). We again had an out of state team join us, Joanne and Ron Wagner of Fremont, OH. (Small world, it turns out I share a
Michigan-TCBA-DALMAC connection with them!)
Some of first time teams included Greg and Dana Clark (just 3 weeks tandeming on their new Calfree), Liz and Pat Ernst, and Dave and Jeannie Pavese. It would be hard to meet and greet every team with such a large turn out, and we had an unexpected challenge. Linda and I had to abbreviate the first half of the ride, as we helped Ian Seecoff and Cheryl Sunman reassemble their rear V-Brake, the victim of a 1:00 AM tire change on last weeks
NITE ride. Thanks to cell phones and local knowledge, we re-connected with the ride about half way to the Sheridan DQ, and had more time to ride and socialize on the way back to Carmel and during lunch.
Thanks again to John and Madelyn, and to everyone who made it such a great time. Our next HOOTS ride is coming up
August 2. (And I am happy to help you schedule and announce a HOOTS ride any time, any where!)
And yes, the Hoots Jerseys are in, (another big thanks to Madelyn!). I will be contacting those with over orders the next several days to arrange delivery.
Enjoy the holiday, and be safe.
For the HOOTS, Jay Hardcastle
